- How do I know if I would be a candidate for dental implants?
Candidates for dental implants are often:
- Have one or more missing teeth
- Have a dental bridge that food particles collect under
- Have loose teeth
- Have loose dentures
- Have problems when it comes to chewing
If you think you may be a good candidate for dental implants, now is the time to call Dr. Kim and schedule an appointment.
- Why should I choose a dentist who specializes in dental implants?
You should choose a dentist who specializes in dental implants because they have the ability to ensure that your implants are placed properly. Poorly placed implants can and do fail. It is important that you seek out a specially trained dental provider such as Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim received an additional three to four years of dental training in implants to ensure that he understands them fully and how to place them. Dr. Kim is a competent provider and is ready to work with you to ensure you receive the best care and implants.
- Are dental x-rays required and are they considered to be safe?
Dental x-rays are required before a dental procedure can be performed. The reason is because there are underlying problems that may be present or there could be issues deep in the bone. If a dentist does not take x-rays, then they do not know what the true problem is. Yes, they may be able to see a cavity, but they cannot see how far down it extends and whether a root canal is needed without the x-ray. X-rays help to prevent unnecessary procedures from being performed and they are considered to be safe overall and expose you to little radiation in the process.
- How many surgeries should I expect to have when I want dental implants?
This is a good question and one we are asked all of the time. The number of surgeries you need to have performed will depend on which dental implant option you choose. For example, if you want same day dental implants, then you will only need one appointment since the teeth are extracted and implants placed at the same time. Otherwise, it will typically take about two appointments.
If you would like to learn more about dental implants and whether or not you are a good candidate, call Steve S. Kim DDS today. We will schedule your appointment in our Torrance office with Dr. Kim.

Richard SHorrible Dentist Avoid Kristen kimShe did all my teeth bad on purpose. If you think this is okay go ahead and have her practice on you too.She was taking off a crown and in the process twisted the temp crown instead of taking it directly out. We heard a loud crack and she smile I let her know my teeth was now pulsating. This seemed to make her and the nurse very happy. I will post the pictures of the crowns if they fall off Or the tooth is indeed cracked. I still am going to sue

I’ve been going here for years. The office is always upbeat and cordial. My visits are quick, easy and painless. They are open early, late and on weekends. They provide free teeth cleaning kits every visit and often have money saving promotions.
